My Story told Through canvas
Creating self-portraits has been a profound and transformative way for me to heal from the traumas and challenges in my life. I began this journey early 2021, after the end of a significant relationship that left me heartbroken and struggling to understand my emotions. In the wake of that pain, I turned to painting as a way to capture and process my grief. The act of painting myself became a deeply personal exploration, a way to visually articulate the sorrow and vulnerability I was feeling. Each self-portrait allowed me to externalize my inner turmoil, helping me move through the healing process, one brushstroke at a time.

Frida Kahlo has been a major inspiration throughout this journey. Her raw, unapologetic self-portraits, which so powerfully express both physical and emotional pain, reminded me that art could be a means of confronting and transforming suffering. Like Kahlo, I use my self-portraits not just to reflect my physical self, but to give voice to the emotions I have often struggled to express, turning my pain into something meaningful and empowering.
